Default The BEST Antivirus software

Hi, I'm looking for the best or very good antivirus software to help protect my computer but there's so many programs claiming this, that and the other as well as the amount of computer sites where one might say AVG is the best and another might say PC-Cillin is the best that I'm completely confused on which one to get.

So, if any of you could recommened me or tell me which antivirus software is currently the leader that would be most helpful. By the way, I did look through other posts before creating this one, but they seemed to consist of people asking for free antivirus software, which mostly turned up as AVG. I am willing to purchase anti-virus software in order to keep my computer protected from those *pesky viruses*.

Thanks in advance,
voice.

Panda is phenomenal if you have more than 512MB of RAM. For a free one, Avast! seems to be the way to go.

avast! Home Edition (the free one) is the best. I was using Norton, McAfee, Panda and AVG. They still can't beat avast - free and good.

I have been using Kaspersky for 3 yesrs now and I have to say it dosent slow down your computer even a bit. Its has updates every day. it can detect viruses that other virus programs cant see. I would recomend Kaspersky.

Pc-illin has to be the best. I had Norton all the versions and worked ok but did not update quickly. Pandad is great if you got a good system because on older systems it just slow them down. AVG was not good could not remove all viruses.

I'm gonna give Avast a try and put AVG to a rest for now. As SirKenin said in another thread, it doesn't seem to actually do anything for me right now, I just run it. Maybe Avast will show me something new?
