I just bought a 21" monitor in Korea(where I now live) in order to hook it up to my ACER Aspire 5000 laptop, which I purchased in Canada. The connection cord is the same as back home but when I hook the two up together nothing happens, the Monitor says "No Signal" and the display device manager doesn't list an external monitor(but has the ability to use multiple monitors). Any advice, what am I missing here? Thanks.

Hey, thanks, I've got it connected now. However, while I can now use the monitor it has display problems; when I move the mouse all the way to the right of the screen about 2 inches of the left side of the screen becomes visible. Same when I move the mouse to the taskbar, about 2 inches of grey shows up below it. I've changed the resolution to as big as 800 by 600, which solves this problem but then I have a very close up view(with a taskbar that can only have one open program on it). Any thoughts? Thanks.
