Default Need help on DX10 cards

I'm getting my computer around Christmas and I was wondering should I get a DX10 card right away or should I hold off until all the bugs are worked out? What kind of DX10 cards are there going to be around that time? Is DX10 really going to be worth it?

Well DX10 is recommended (not necessary. Theres a variant of DX9 that will also work with vista) for vista. You will also need DX10 for newer games. Any bugs in DX10 could probably just be fixed thru software updates.

DX10 will be the nVidia 8 series and R-something for ATI (don't follow them).

I'd say its worth it to get it when you can.

They'll be expensive because they will have been recently released, compared to the latest DX9 cards having been released a few months ago. It depends on which model you go for.

I highly doubt DX10 cards will even be out in Decemember, you you'll probably have to get a DX9 card, and wait for DX10 to be fully operational early '07.

Yeah, DX10 will probably come out with Vista, late Q1 or Q2 2007.

Edit: I would get a 7600 GT as a placeholder, then get a DX10 card later on.

I just dont want to spend my alot of money on a 7950GT and than have to buy a DX10 card later. I was thinking of getting a 7600GT now and than buying a DX10 card later. Is that a good idea??? Will a 7600GT play games like Halo 2/games like that on a high setting???

I doubt on high, but since Halo 2 will come out when vista does, which is when DX10 comes out, you should be fine.

Get a 7600 GT now then a DX10 card. Best path IMHO.
