When I use my plug in USB flash storage drive, XP says it can run faster, that it is a HI-SPEED USB device, but it is plugged into a non HI-SPEED port. It says:
You must add a HI-SPEED USB host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance. Does this mean I need new hardware? Or is it merely a matter of getting an updated driver? If so, where? Thanks for your help guys. |

Well, we need to know some specs before we can give you much of an answer, but usally it does mean you need new hardware. Windows XP normally comes with all the correct drivers and what not to get USB2.0 speeds.

you are using USB1.1 ports, but the device supports USB2.0 (wich is a lot faster
)I wouldnt worry about it, the only thing you could do to speed it up is by adding a USB2.0 PCI card in your system. but if you only use USB for storage occasionally,.. i wouldnt bother about it

Ok, thanks, I won't worry about it then. I just thought it might be worth updating the driver if I could get better speed, but apparently not.
For some reason, instant email notification of replies never works for me on this forum. I have enabled that option, and this thread appears in my subscribed thread list, yet I don't receive the emails! Suggestions anyone? |

Most spam blockers thing emails from Forums are spam. It's pretty common. I'd first make sure your filters allow emails from here.
