I am using the onboard sound of an Abit KV7 motherboard and win98se. The prob is I am not getting true 5.1 sound. Is it bcos win98se does not support 5.1 sound as there is only an option for surround sound and not 5.1? Is there a way of resolving this prob? I am using PowerDVD5 and when I set it to 6 speakers there is no sound from the centre speaker and no dialogue/speech. When I set it to 4 speakers, there is sound from the centre speaker but it's not true 5.1. Thanks.

Does your onboard sound suport 5.1 surround sound? there should be three ports for audio (not including microphone/line-in). Also check to make sure what your trying to listen to allows 5.1 sound (old games probably wouldnt work). If your mobo does support 5.1 sound, go to the website and see if you can download any drivers.
