I have a dell dimension B110. By accident it was pull while connected to the monitor and broke the video plug in that that it was intergraded to the motherboard. Since the system we just want it to surf the internet and write documents, we bought a ATI Rage XL 8MB SDRAM PC Video Card.
After we plug in the new card and turn on the machine the power light in the monitor stays not green, but in that orange like when the computer is off. I unplug the video cable from the back of the computer's new video card and then I get a no signal message in the monitor. If the old integraded video worked, I could go into the bios and do the changes, but well, it's all loose and it doesn't pass a signal. Any body know what would be the solution to get this new video card to display. I have the CD that came with the card and bought it brand new. The monitor doesn't display, but when you turn on the machine, later you hear windows log on. thanks |

Well...problem kind of solve...I reseted the Bios and then it all went normal until the Windows XP logo screen would come that the screen would have a signal, but it would be black...so I could hear it log on in the speakers. so I restart the CPU, I press F8 and choose Enable VGA on then it was all find. Since I already have a monitor...I took it to my office and then over there...the screen would have a signal, but not display anything. At my home it works, but at the office works. I tried reseting the bios, but nothing...so my guess is that the monitor in the office broke.
tomorrow I'll take my computer that I use at the house and test the monitor...anyways...thanks for the help. |
