Default Flatout 2 Problems! :(

Hi people!

Having a bit of a nightmare with my system ATM.

Firstly.

This has occured 3 times now in flatout 2 whilst in a race.

The screen freezes, leaving the music playing, about 2-3 seconds after the musi c hangs and then the system just restarts.

Once I have windows booted back up again I get 'The system has recovered from a Serious Error'

Error Signature

BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : BFB05A98 BCP3 : A8368B04
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

The following files will be included in the error report:
C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa0d7.dir00\Mini 100906-04.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERa0d7.dir00\sysd ata.xml

I have tryed reinstalling the game to no avail, I get exactly the same problem and the same files included in the error report.

The weird thing is thats baffling me though is that I have searched the temp directory listed for both files and it cannot find anything.

Have alsdo done a full system scan for them and still nothing!

Please help its driving me nuts, cos I had a post failure straight after which reset my bios ****ing all my overclocks up. (But thats another story, which will be going elsewhere )

TIA
Thanks for reading

Ok, I did a little searching for those files, and the second file is a very common occurance for random restarts, and a variation on the first file is also linked with it in the other people's posts that I've found. Overall, most of the "fixed" problems seem to be related to the RAM of some sort, mainly overheating. Other posts have also mentioned that the RAM going bad in general was causing the problem. Try a different set of RAM, if that doesn't clear it out, see if you have a way of checking the internal temp and see if it is getting warm in the case...

*EDIT*: here's the link to the search I did on Google, if you want to see what I found...

Thanks for the research you did to help

I asked someone on msn and he told me to check my clocks.

So i did.

Found out that my card had set itself back to stock

(I know that don't sound bad, but my card is a bit b0rked and the thing has artifacts (stalling at stock core)

Weird thing is that whenever it used to do this it would always eventually come back to speed, where as now it just restarts.

Anway Im glad its fixed

If I cant figure this overclocking prob out in the next 10 mins il put a post here

EDIT:
Got the overclocking working again

Sytems back to normal now

Right ok

Found out that a lot of people are having the same issue as me with this game and 7600GT's

Do you think its becasue this game is just poorly coded.

Or is it because it stresses the systems in areas that other games don't?

I would like to know because if its becasue its just stressing my system more than other games do I will keep my clocks at the flatout 2 speed all the time.

Knowing that I have my system at the correct clocks that even my most demanding app can run at.

If it's with a specific game and card, it pretty safe to bet that it a software/hardware conflict. If the developer has not been notified, I would let them know and see if they come out with a patch that would fix this problem...

Interesting... I have a 7600GT and have yet to have any problems(knock on wood) Well, I have some minor problems... Every so often, I'll enter a race and everythings black except for the map, time, and what not... But restarting the race fixes this.

Well anyway, I didn't look at those links. I guess it's an XT specific problem?

I had the same problem with races occasionally,... except that my whole screen went black,.. you could hear it running in the background, just no visuals at all
