Want to upgrade GF's PC from a crappy Celeron 2.5 to a better CPU.

Anyone have them for sale? Its for a Compaq acording to the mobo it will take P4's too, its a Asus P4G533-LA

i think the most you could upgrade 2 is a 2.8GHZ, the 3.0GHZ is 800MHZ FSB...

i have a 1.6P4, but i highly doubt it would be better.... but i could trade you something for my spare 2.8GHz that i have... maybe for the Athlon 64?

i have a 1.5GHZ, and a 1.8GHZ, dont need it cause i upgraded 2 a 2.8...

Master, iunno of you seen my earlyier post, but my GX240 is socket 478 and the highest i can go, and the highest 478 cpu they made is 3.0GHZ, 500MHZ isnt really alot...more RAM would be better...

a 2.8GHz p4 will stomp a 2.5GHz celeron

I'm a new member and I signed up mainly for getting rid of a bunch of stuff I geathered over the years. the list follows :

P4 Northwood 2.533 socket 478 with Intel MB
2x 256Mb 184 pin 2700 DDR

AMD Athlon 3800+ Socket 939 with ESI MB
2x 512mbyte 3200 DDR

2 300w power supply (tested good for backup )

Are you sure you can only use a 400Mhz FSB CPU in the computer? Some motherboards are also capable of 533Mhz FSB, which would allow you to upgrade even further.
