Default weird problem, 'my computer' file disappears

its not as bad as it sounds,

its just the icon has disappeared , yet it still shows up when i want to save a file

btw i got th shortcut by just going into the start menu, simple to do
click the links please

notice how i only have 1 icon of my computer, but it lets me save to both

btw, it happened because originally the icon disappeared so i had to create a shortcut to it

Most likely, probably a glitch. You might want to try running a good registry cleaner to see if it'll clean up the invalid path of the "My Computer" and bring it back. Assuming the original is still there, have you tried right click on the desktop>arrange icons by>name because the original icon could have been accidentally moved off the screen.

Then, there is also 3rd part appz such as Tweak UI from www.tweakxp.com that can show/hide your desktop icons. It may be able to fix that problem with a little hide, then show the icon again.
