Many Thanks tlarkin - do I need a Pentium 3 or Pentium 4 and does it need to be a minimum processor speed? Thanks once again for your help.

Try for $500-750 like tlarkin said, Try and get a pentium 4 processor because pentium 3 is quite old. Dual Core will also be too expensive. Pentium 4 is probably best.

You'll most likely be looking at the Pentium M class processors. Unless you look at one of the cheaper ones to begin with like Gateway or Acer. They have dual core laptops under $1,000.00.

Also, check out Dell's crazy rebates. Sometimes you can saves 100s of dollars with their rebates.
