Xbox 360 Wireless USB Adapter

I don't really want to pay $100 for the thing, and I was wondering if you can use just any old USB Wireless Adapter, or if you have to buy the Microsoft one.
If I can't, I guess that I can just run an uber long CAT-5 cable, lol.

i tried to use a normal usa adapter, and the xbox wouldnt recognize it. maybe its just user error, but i couldnt get it to work.

I would either take a look on an Xbox 360 forum, where I am sure people ask this same question a lot.

or

Look on eBay, you might be able to save some cash on it.
