Exclamation Two New CD/DVD Drives, Both have problems... plz help? :)

lol.... just my luck...

Both of my old drives on my comp (located in my sig) died

I bought these two:

Sony DVD-Rom, Model #DDU1615/B2s
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827101131

Sony DVD/CD-RW, etc, Model #DWQ120AB2
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827131031

Here's the scoop:

1) They both are receiving power and they both open completly with no problem.

However,

2) The DVD-Rom IS recognized by computer, Im guessing XP already had the driver. HOWEVER, Everytime I insert ANY disc, cd/dvd/game, my comp freezes... have tried multiple times over and over, no hope....

3) The DVD/CD-RW is NOT recognized by computer, although it is receiving power.... Anytime I insert a disc, absolutely nothing happens.... under Conrol Panel > Printers & Other Hardware > System > Hardware > Device Manager > DVD/CD-Rom Drives, the only one that shows is the DVD-Rom....

Did I buy the wrong combo of drives? (im defintely no expert)
Did I possibly wire the two incorrectly to the computer? Such as the "slave ..." whatever things... (the cords besides the psu)
What should I do?

Thank you in advance!

You need to set the jumpers right on the back of the drives- one Master= one Slave

yeahh possibly u jumpered them wrong, depending on the keys or cd-roms, jumper one as Master, and one as a Slave, MAKE SURE you do not jumper 2 masters or 2 slaves, and dont bother with the CS-Cable Select.

Unhappy

ok... so i switched the drives. the DDU1615 is now master and the other is the slave....

some interesting but unconclusive results...

1) The DDU1615 now accepts some software. When playing a CD, the music skips every second or two... (and the drive is VERY loud, normal?)

2) The other RW drive is still receiving power. However, it still has no response in windows. In System, under control panels, there is no sign of it. Ive had my comp search for it and no results...?

hopefully i didnt get faulty crap from newegg...

any response thx ahead of time
