Default Norton Antivirus...works?

I just received a friendly reminder from Norton Antivirus 2006 to renew my subscription. However, it also included a record of all the viruses its prevented...I was appauled/immpressed.

Heh, that's not entirely true. Those are all the virus it has the ability to prevent, not the amount of attacks your computer has had. It is a marketing tool, and it seems to have worked

What he said. Norton is crap. Get rid of it and download Avast! Do a scan of your computer right afterwards. Don't be surprised if it finds stuff that Norton missed.

Agree. Use avast! - the best antivirus ever. Norton is pretty useless nowadays. In fact, it slows down your computer. ( or maybe just my pc?)

I have used norton, but only because I have free access to corporate edition. But in the build I have in my sig I don't use it even though I could for free! It hogs some system resources and like to update and be generally annoying from time to time. I use AVG now, its free.

But I do believe that the Jobs name and the Macintosh apple with a chunk out of it could sell wet wood to someone trying to start a fire these days.

Save yourself the money and switch to AVG or Avast! I'm thinking of switching to Avast! from AVG because AVG is starting to tick me off with it's constant updates...
