Vista is still a new "bug infested" version of Windows to put it bluntly. XP had it's own share before SP1 and finally SP2 saw those fixed. Lately I've been hearing more of those involving IE 7 failing to connect or crashing while browsing from different sources. The one thing Vista has to offer over XP at this point besides the "new themes" is an automatic repair process when you boot up from the installation disk. Once the initial startup screen appears you click on the repair link at the bottom to see a menu of options on the next screen. You might want to give that a try.
