Default Just Built

I just built my new comp, I have everything plugged in and ready to go to install windows. But when I turn it on, it only turns on for 30secs then shuts itself down. Does anyone know what is going on with it, what I should check out to see. This is the first time I have built a computer so I dont know all the details. I have a 800w power supply, so I think it should be able to power everything... some help could help me out, thanks bros,

Shane Smith

EDIT: I know what the motherboard is working some what because I have a light up keyboard and it lights up when I turn it on. But the monitor wont turn on. Its weird, bad wiring?

Check all your connections closely. Make sure they are all plugged in securely and proper. Last time this similar thing happened on one of my builds I had a blown CPU.

If you installed the CPU yourself make sure there are no bent pins. Make sure you applied the right amount of compound etc. Basically go over every step you made and double check it.

I noticed your other thread where you tried powering up with no ram. That should not have damaged it but still a bad call. You should never try and power on a PC that is not completely assembled.

Oh yes and because your keyboard lights up does not mean your motherboard could not be damaged.

Just because the keyboard flashes and lights isn't a sure sign the motherboard is good. What else happens? So it runs for 30 seconds then shuts off. No beeps(is your speaker connected correctly) any screens on the monitor?

Is the board installed correctly? Are you using standoffs if needed? Have you tried another PSU or tried that one in another machine?

You can also remove all the drives and expansion cards(besides video unless you have onboard) I've seen computers not POST due to faulty hard drives.
