Default

Under internet options in control panels you can choose the default mail application, but to actually disable this function it would probably have to be a conifguration with inthe application itself. That I am not sure of, but if you play around in the options of the applciation (ie outlook in your case) you could maybe configure it to disable that option.

I use groupwise at work and thunderbird at home. I haven't used outlook in a while so I am not up to date with it. I do know how to restore and back up .pst files though
