I put my old regular dvd rom in and that did not fix the problem. I also unplugged my new hard drive completely and that did not fix the problem. (so it's not a compatibility issue with the new hard drive/motherboard)

When I put in the new hard drive I switched the power cables around so I could plug everything in. Could having a diff power cable plugged into the burner cause a problem like this? Because it was working fine before I did this.

As I said, try with a different cable and a different power supply.

I remember that when I added a HDD, my inadequate generic PSU would cause these types of errors, since it doesnt provide enough, good, clean power for all the drives to function optimally. Get a better one, try again, and report back.

Funds are a little tight right now so I will try a new PSU when I can. However, how could it be a power issue if I unplug my new drives and only have my original HDD and my burner plugged in...and still get the error? I just don't get it.

Any recommendations on which PSU to try? I have a 380 right now.

Thanks, Andy
