Default How to get windows applications to run in surround?

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy SE, and a set of Klipsch 5.1 surround speakers. I have all the drivers from Creative, and both my windows hardware setting, and the speaker control that came with the sound card driver are set for 5.1. When I test the config., it goes through all 5 speakers. But when playing music and games, I only get sound from the front right and left speakers. I just put in a new Raptor hard drive, and installed windows. Am i missing a setting somewhere? ..because i had no problems before.
