What do you mean by attacks? What or who is attacking you and how do you know you are being attacked?

Is it possible that your subscription to Norton is almost up, so it makes you think you are being attacked? hehhe sneaky norton.

I think he means port scans. Find a free firewall/internet security test online and it will tell you if you have open ports or any thing to worry about.

edit: try this

i suppose... but it sounded like he needed a better one... question to the topic creater, is it updated? that could be one of your greatest problems...

to add to ETSA's post, Shields UP is a great one to run also...

A lot of so called attacks are just ad servers trying to connect. I run ZApro behind a NAT I rarely see any hits. I like Zone Alarm because it reports outgoing stuff and is a quick way to detect malware.

I don't even use softawre based firewalls anymore. Just get a firewall enabled router that supports NAT. I get 0 hits from remote hosts.

Also nmap your systems for security auditing

I had Mcafee for a while and did not like it at all. Both a resource hog and would make errors but it did work and kept my computer safe. Then i got Zonealarm last month and has been excellent.

Last week my DSL was upgraded to 24MB and I got a modem/router with a NAT firewall and that has been fantastic. Nothing has made it by that NAT and Zonealarm has had nothing to block anymore. No logs anymore. Jack
