Logitech is one the top with wired controllers. You can look over three different models with two seeing a price close to each other at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tk=&srchInDesc=

The only one besides Altec Lansing with a wireless remote seen at newegg at this time is the Creative Labs I-TRIGUE L3800 seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116179

take your pick
power search - wireless or wired controller, 5.1 and 7.1 configurations. (for surround like you asked lol)

personally, i dont mind have the controller on the right or left speaker.

It will depend on your budget mainly. On the Logitech models here the small center mix speaker(not the woofer) has the on/off, center on/off, and the two volume controls for main and center. The prices at newegg are actually higher for a good 2 1/2 setup then the 5.1 surround set here when bought a little over a year now. You will note that most of the systems with wireless controllers are over $200-.
