Default eax?

alright first off what exactly is this? I know it has something to do with sound and sound blaster?

and second I have a sound blaster live! sound card this one: http://secure.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=6435
model number is sb0220

it works fine in games and music I really like it but it says it has eax and in the creative options there is even an eax cp but when i check the box for eax in games(counter strike 1.6, bf2, ut2k4, and aa)I get no sound in game but when it is unchecked the sound is fine I'm also using software mode because when I select hardware I get no sound?

thanks for your help guys

Edit: oh and another thing I cant watch movies in surround sound either I have the logitech x-530 speakers but when I select anything but stereo in the settings no sound plays I've used powerdvd and vlc media player using real dvd disks

EAX stands for Environmental Audio Extensions. Which basically allows you to hear more complex environmental audio, such as water flowing, birds chirping, ect.

Sound Blaster did create EAX, however other cards do support it.

I remember when I had this stuck on...I had closed Counter Strike, and everything that came across the speakers had a HUGE echo behind it. Like it was in a Huge airplane hangar or something... It took me a while to figure it out..
