why are you giving a speech about firearms deaths? are you a gun control nut ?

Stay on topic. If you have nothing to contribute to the thread (aka help), then move-along.

The proof is that countries with gun restrictions have lower crime
|
Thats not really proof you know

Thats just a bunch of [potential] facts that string together to form a plausable inference.

That's pretty ridiculous. You can still get an outstanding education in many other countries.

1. Thats what you believe versus what the Japanese believe (although it was posted in a blunt de-facto manner which really, it's not that blunt ... in Japan, if you're on track to goto Tokyo Univeristy and you dont make it in -- it's yer own damn fault lol, their's an OBSCENE amount of preparory work that is involved)
2. Perhaps its not just an education thing too, but a national-pride thing (not to be mistaken for arrogance tho), like I mean, for me, there's like two universities I would goto in the world for the stuff I'm studying ... one of which I'm going to, the other I hope to score a Masters scholarship (otherwise I'm not going, too damn expensive lol). So as far as *I* am concerned? There's just two options, plain and simple... and yes I recognize there are tons of kickass schools out there.
Regarding Japan as a whole.... I think it's pretty fair to say that "you gotta be Japanese to understand the Japanese" -- the societal psyche is very different from the classical westerner: values are drastically different, repercussions are dreastically different.

yes it can..goto the nra web site and they have most of the facts, they also show the statistics of towns down south in the us that the crime dropped to almost nothing when they made it mandtory for all residents of town to carry a firearm(not including crimminals or mental patients)
|
Again that's not a proof: thats a string of [potential] facts strung together next to a plausible outcome.

whatever the thinking on the NRA weather for there thinkin or not....there are tomany gun control laws out there and that is not the problem...there is no real punishment for crimminals and that should be the cause of high gun crimes...because after you take all the guns away and people start stabbing there neighbors do we take all the knifes and folks away?????and if you want to talk about deadly weapons go look up the death rate of drunk drivers and auto ACCIDENTS..do we take all the cars away and make people use public transportation..if you did that you would save 100 of thousands lives each year and billions on insurance and medical payments...the idea of taking something away from the people because other people think it cant be used correctly is called a dictatorship, so if all the people that dont like guns can move to Canada...or some other country they think is better off...
|
Well realistically (cough Praetor's regmine), there'd be a license, renewable each year. If you get your license renewed, you can do whatever the crap you want (of course you kill someone etc, then you in trouble). The license is renewable based on IQ. nuff said.

Actually, a dictatorship is "an autocratic form of absolute rule by leadership unrestricted by law, constitutions, or other social and political factors within the state."
In a dictatorship, if the dictator doesnt want people to have guns, then he-she can take them away. But because guns are taken away, doesnt make it a dictactorship.

Guns have to have someone to pull that trigger, right?

Nope.

thats fine if people have different ideas then me its a free country..but when the anti gun fringe tries to take away my guns or restrict them in the hands of..LAW ABIDING CITIZENS..then that no longer is an idea its an action against me and that is what I have a problem with...
|
Actualll thats the root of the matter:
- We recognize that guns are, in some way, related to crime. Whether they play a central role or not, i dont care
- The media (either rightly or wrongly) has made guns "the one factor that stands between us and civil peace"
- People buy into that
- Laws get made
Now assuming that the laws are in place, as law-abiding citizens, you either
- Follow the law and stfu or
- You complain to congressman/congresswoman
Why only those options?
- Because democracy is based on the principle of "many".... and
apparently, many people wanted that law to be passed and not-so-many didnt want it

A little off topic of the thread, but I find this chart hard to believe. Maybe I should research it more before stating this, but since when do birth rates decrease over time? Population is constantly growing everywhere. Also, it shows that Japanese population is at a standstill right now, which doesn't seem right.
