Question Reading e-mail headers and ID of poster

Hi
I am a complete novice wrt computing so forgive me if this is a dumb question. (Hope this is the correct forum too).
Apart from IP addresses, is there any way of checking if mail is all being sent from a single computer?
I am trying to find out if several mailers are actually all the same person.
Their IP addy is the same but have discovered that these come from a cache which works like a proxy server, so it appears I can't be sure from IP alone.
Any suggestions?
