Default Question about a motherboard

My friend has a prblem with his motherboard. This is an HP motherboard the model number of the motherboard is P4G533 LA. When he turns on the PC, it does a long beep. like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. I think you get the point lol. I told him the motherboard is fryed. Is this true. He wants to replace it with the same one but i cant find the same one. heres the website about the motherboard http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...cname=bph07845

Is there jumpers on this motherboard? Im not sure i tryed to find some but no luck. Is it possible that theres no jumpers? thanks in advice.

The real problem there sounds like bad memory! The HP/CompaQ bios error code list points to that as the problem.

Long beeps do usally mean memory problems...

As for the model, I do beleive most HPs and Compaqs are Asus as Chris mentioned. However, I don't think you can find them elsewhere as JUST Asus...

could be. the only RAM he supports is i think its 1600. im not sure ill talk to him tommerow. If there different numbers say he has 1600 and he put in 2400 would the RAM fit in the motherboard right? like as putting it in.

The memory according to the specifications is either PC1600 or PCC2100. The next memory is the PC2700. All three of these are 186pin dimms. If PC2700 was used that would set off alarm bells there fast enough. It could have been mislabled memory when bought? That's also possible.
