help getting pass password..?

my friend came to me tonight with his labtop and he said he forgot the password to it and asked me if i could try to get in so i tried booting in safe mode then going in administraor like you would xp but that didnt work so idk what to do its windows 2000 professional and it dont have a cd-rom drive but he said he didnt care if i had to reformat it but i cant, is there some way i can download a program onto a floppy and boot it off that and get by it somehow idk guys im stumped can anyone help me out, it would be much appreshiated

well are you trying to get the password to the XCp login or the Cmos password. cuz if your going for the XP, you screwed this means you have to reinstall XP. its good to write the passwords down.

oh sorry you needed 2000 pro. can you go to safe mode and go to regedit and find the login password?
