Default Is this the best value Motherboard?

http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.p...610&SID=139554

179.95 Canadian

I am getting E6300, 2 GB OCZ 6400 800mhz RAM
Sapphire Radeon X1900XT
600 Watt OCZ GameXstream power Supply

Is there one similar to this and just as good that is a little cheaper, or is this a really good buy and a really good board?

The Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 is the best value right now.

Is it much worse than the 965P DS3?

Actually, a review I read comparing the DS3 to the S3, and the S3 got to 505 FSB, and was the best budget overclocking board.

In otherwords, the more durable capacitors aren't worth the extra money if you are on a tight budget.

Yeah, solid capacitors are still an unknown when it comes to overclocking. They will last longer and handle heat better but standard caps last a long time on their own and are cheaper. The S3 and DS3 have a difference gigabit controller but are otherwise the same. I can't tell what difference the 2 Marvell gigabit controllers have.

I have the S3 and it is good, the only drawback is the crappy northbridge cooling.

I think I'll go with the DS3 anyways, the S3 doesn't support the RAM I want according to www.memoryexpress.com build configurator.

I wouldn't nessesarily trust that configurator. Any memory that can work with the DS3 should work with the S3 as well

Hm, I don't know why when you select the S3, the option for the RAM I want dissapears.

The main thing is getting DDR2 xxx speed for the board. unless you get 4 GB sticks, you will be fine, unless there is a compatibility issue. In that case, just update your BIOS
