I recently reinstalled windows xp, and afterwards, I have not been able to get any sound out of my speakers. When I try to play anything, such as on Media player, I get a message saying I can't play sounds, and that "there is no sound card" (Error ID = 0x80040256, Remedy ID = 0x00000000). I've tried to check for new hardware, but for some reason I can't find the sound card on there anywhere. I am also not sure of what kind of sound card I have, and was hoping that I wouldn't have to crack open the casing and look, because it's always a pain. Anything I can do to fix this situation? Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to install drivers for it to work. Is it an actual card, or is it integrated into the motherboard?
