well its mainly the quality that they make them at, and that they are the only ones that can make a MAC computer so its kinda a monopoly

Mac's are better quality than most other computers, and yes they can more easily set the prices of their product, since they are the only one producing it. However, the good part is that Macs keep their value a lot better than PCs, and if you are going to resell it, you can get quite a bit of your investment back...

If you compare a mac's peformace with a compariable PC, they usally outperform when loaded with BootCamp and XP. I've really never used a macintosh, but most benchmarks seem to follow this pattern. As for quality, they are very high quality. My Mac Mini is extreamly solid. I worked on Dell's at the hospital, and man, you could hardly plug in the printer(LPT port) without all the ports being bent back into the case, behind the I/O pannel. Talk about cheaply made! I can press on the DVI port on my mini and it doesn't move at all.

If you compare a Mac's build quality to that of say, a Dell or Compaq, then yes I would say the Mac's are better. But there not better quality then if you build your own PC.
