hi im currently using a really old crappy computer with a 80 gb harddrive so i figured i would purchase a dvd r. i've read cd/dvd 101 and preators pic is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106019 but i noticed it was posted over a year ago, was wondering if its still best choice or if theres something better on the market nowadays. also my computer is fairly old and its power is 200 wats or so i think, do dvdr rw drives require more wats? will i have to purchase a new powersupply as well? and can i install this drive on my old computer? my mobo is a ASUS CUV4X ACPI BIOS Revision 1005, will i still be able to install it on my computer? as a side note i also noticed that he didnt quite describe which was better, dvd+r or dvd-r. any help or comments would be appricated.

DVD drives haven't really changed over the past year, besides in price. That DVD Burner is still very nice for the price. It will work fine with your power supply.

i see hehe thanks for the reply, by the way do you know which is better? dvd+r or dvd-r disks? also it seems a lot of poeple are buying 8x rather then 16x, is that mainly because of price issue or is it because 16x are more likely for errors? is there really a great difference in speed between them?

a lot of cheap media will error out at 16x, however if you have a 16x burner you can set the speed to 8x when burning, or just buy 8x media and it won't go any faster.
Lightscribe media is expensive though. You won't be forced to use lightscribe media, just giving you an FYI |
