Default decent inexpensive LGA775 board

looking for a board for core 2 duo, nothing flash though as i wont be overclocking at all. Just a decent reliable board thats not expensive. I know the P5B is fairly recommended but wondered if there were any known solid reliable boards below that in price?

Those two boards are ok. I recommend the DS3 though. Whilst it is renoun for its overclocking, it isn't expensive and is very reliable!

well the gigabyte board would work out more expensive than the P5b so would probably knock that one out of the equation

on another note i would need to have sata and ide connections for HDD as i have my sata drives and my two IDE drives that would need connecting too

the p965 neo-f is a pretty good board ----to the extent of not overclocking, its bench marks are pretty high, just a bit below (not noticable) gigabyte 965p-s3

You aren't going to find two PATA conenctors on any 965 board. You'll either have to find a 945/55 or 975 based board that support core 2.

A PCI Controller card will sort that problem out, or you can do as Cromewell suggested, and look for a different chipset.

Although, ECS boards have cheaper, but I can't find them.

hmm pci controller could be the solution then, just out of curiosity does anyone know of any 945/55 or 975 boards that would fit then....ignoring the price for the moment?
