Now that the Free Antivirus from AOL powered by 'Kaspersky' has been out for a few months, i thought i would update you on the initial fears because it was from AOL. Some parts of the original EULA were somewhat questionable so AOL has changed the wording to everyone's satisfaction. No users in the various forms have received SPAM because of using this antivirus and are very happy with it. Even though i use the Full version of Kaspersky, i decided to see for myself and installed AOL AVS in one of my test snapshots. As you will see below, the GUI is nice with still lots of options. Included is the 'Scan new and changed files only' option which after the initial scan, makes subsequent scans much quicker. I will post the results of the scans alittle later. Also unlimited options for 'Definition Updates'. As you can see, i have mine set to update every '15 minutes' and you will get 15-20 updates/day. Some AV's update only once a day. You will receive an activation code via email and so far, that is the only email i have received from AOL. I would really recommend giving this freebie a try. It's protection is hard to beat.

Sorry, here is a screen shot.
More screenshots here. http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9673/aol2ee2.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5267/aol3ly1.jpg Just completed 2 Full computer scans. The initial scan took 1 hour 57 minutes. The 2nd scan which i did 10 minutes later and with the setting 'Scan new and changed files only', took 8 minutes 32 seconds. Now that's fast!. Antivir has really improved the past 6 months especially with it's 'Heuristics' but i would definitely recommend AOL AVS over AVG & Avast. However, if you are a very safe and limited internet/email user, most any AV should do.
