Are you seeing an error messages? Make sure the usb controllers are enabled in the bios. Here's a pair of links that also refer go into this. That seems the most likely cause there.

stupid question... what is the event viewer, and where do i find it? :x
As for the devices,.. my keyboard, my mouse (well, trackball) and the Creative IR remote reciever that came with my soundcard. ( but it does the same when i remove it) edit: the funny thing is tough.. i can use the USB keyboard in the bios and all,.. it also recognizes the Keyboard, mouse and hub (build into the keyboard) in the bios.. to its really just windows messing around ![]()

Your BIOS will control your onboard USB controller before windows boots and takes over, that is normal behavior.
To access the event viewer (there is more than one way) click Start > Right click My computer > Manage > Event Viewer > System Log Any errors relating to USB? you can also access it via control panles > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > event viewer |

some errors are normal, like DHCP release/renew errors, and windows defender keeps calling my VNC connection spyware, even though its something I installed myself LOL
Make sure your USB is in working manner, then reboot the system, if the errors persist something in event viewer may pop up. However, windows error logs lack a lot of good info. |

do you have a usb card reader installed?
the CLSID error has to do with UUIDs, and the class ID is a reg key that is trying to connect with some local service. UUIDs are specific indentifers on hardware. Similar to a MAC address on a NIC. CLSID is just another name for it. see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globally_Unique_Identifier Have you recently installed any kind of new usb controller or ran any updates for drivers/firmware? It looks like you have an onboard and a PCI USB controller...Does the problem persist when you yank the PCI USB card out? Or have you recenlty added any new USB devices? Perhaps you have a bonofied GUID conflict, which technically isn't suppose to happen. |

It's odd that it's not working by default but open Component Services (Control Panel->Administrative Tools). Expand the Component Services section, expand computers, right click on My Computer and pick properties. Go to the com security tab and click 'edit default' in the launch and activation premissions section. Check that system and interactive have both locals checked and Administrators have everythign checked.
If that doesn't work add user NT AUTHORITY and grant it Local Activation and Local Launch.
