Default Desktop PC config..help plz

Below is what I have picked out for my system that I plan to build. I was hoping on some other peoples input on whether or not I did ok picking things out as this computer will be used for gaming and various other things and hopefully will be easy to upgrade in the near future. If anyone has any comments about the setup or certain parts that I picked and have better suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Case (from cheapest to most i will pay)

Fan controller and temp reader

Motherboard (most of the troubles lie here...I don't really know what to look for in a motherboard and chose ASUS because i've heard they're good and i wanted it to have plenty of expansion room and support an AMD 64 X2)

--Also I think some of the cases came with the rear I/O panel...does that mean i can get one without or can I get a motherboard without it?

RAM

Would appreciate recommendations here...I dont know much about RAM but will probably stick with an ASUS motherboard unless someone has a better recommendation

Havent really picked a harddrive or cd-rom yet and will take suggestions for those as well...ANyones input is greatly appreciated and thanks for reading this message

i like the first case the best.

as for the motherboard, i would go with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131013
it has 1 more pci slot, and 2 more sata3's.

for ram, go with something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145566

as for a dvd burner:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106042

and hard drives:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144031
it has a 16mb cache and ncq. you can even get two and raid them.

i guess you have a cpu in mind already?

I planned on goin dual core because of some of the things i have heard about it....
Ok so any recommendations on a cheap but good harddrive DVD and CD RW combo would be appreciated and I'm not quite sure if the mobo u recommended will be necessary as the other mobo i had picked up could support 2 gfx cards...And i dont think i will need all the features it has to add...I'd like to stick with ASUS and prolly only use a max of 2 or 3 harddrives..probably start with 1 gb of RAM and upgrade to 4 later on...I would like good sound and network card and still be able to run the processor above while saving for the extras I will not need. Was also wondering of a good company for a power supply. Thanks!

Well I read some on that motherboard u listed pdc and it does have some nice features...whether or not i should spend 50$ more on it I'm still thinking...but that is a good recommendation

Hmmm if i could find a site that had a combo of mobo and a dual core AMD processor that put it together and was still relatively cheap that would be great

Hmmm another question is whether or not I should go with AM2 or socket 939 as it looks most 939 boards are cheaper and also ive seen nvida is a popular chipset, but I dont know much about overclocking so I won't be dealing with that too much and i was wondering chipset recommendations and a cheap but good gfx card and power supply...Thanks

Again I ask the question: Why are you going with AMD when Intel is better currently?

Ok Im going to try and be a tad bit clearer with this post...
Im only going to have a max of 2-3 hard drives
I plan to get an Athlon 64 X2 Processor most likely the 3800
A cheap DVD/RW drive
anywhere from 1-2 gbs of RAM
most likely a 256mb Gfx card
the first case I listed at the top of the page
I've read so much about motherboards I have no idea what to look for for chipsets or socket as I've heard so many people complaining praising about different aspects of the different motherboards. I'm going to be playing games on this computer and probably using it for everyday internet, music, and maybe movies. After reading so many things I don't really know where to look anymore as this will be the first computer I'll be building and want a quality one for a decent price (definitely under 1000) which I think is easily achievable and can still be good quality, but I don't know what I will need to be looking for performance wise and stuff....Anyone who can help me is greatly appreciated...Thanks
