Yes the cpu will be able to play bf2, and for $130, a 7600gt would be nice.

lets just say, my 3000+ XP can play BF2142 (at least the demo, I didn't really like it) and thats with my 5600xt video card... I think you will play it with ease.

amd makes a 3800+ in a single core and a 3800+ in a dual core.

I'm reusing a post for a similar thread
------------------------------- upgrade the video card (recommend 7600GT) and toss in some RAM my 1.3 P3 tulatin played the demo acceptably with a gig of pc133 ram. the minimum specs for BF2 deluxe are 1.7ghz processor 512meg ram and 3.5 gig of available hard drive and directx 9 compatible video card. I wouldn't recommend wasting the $10 on deluxe version if your into online playing, usually only one or two servers running on Special forces expansion (included in deluxe version) my new (finished 1 week break in yesterday) AMD xp 3800 with geforce 7600 gt and 1 gig ddr2 800 ram plays it easily with all settings on HIGH
