Default help direct me to a new computer

Ok im looking to buy a computer. I mostly use the computer for the internet, storing music files, watching movies and editing musical patches on some of my gear...I would also like to have a large screen.
I dont game so I dont need anything for that.
I would prefer a laptop, but im open to a desktop (I know they generally have more bang for the buck).

I would prefer to take the computer around the house and to watch tv/whatever with it.

but I have no idea what is good anymore...

so educate me, whats a good company, whats good hardware on a computer these days?

where is a good place to get a great one for cheap.
whats a good price.

If that's what you prefer, than you should definitely get a laptop eventhough you may not get that bang for you buck. You wouldn't want to take your desktop pc back and forth.

Well, laptops on the low end are pretty powerful nowadays. Any low end laptop would do what you require it to fine. What you just need to consider is the screen size, as you said you want a big screen. Then, the hard drive as you are planning on storing music and videos. Low end, so probably look for an Intel Pentium M processor as it should do what you need quite well.

Last question probably is, what is your budget?

I'd probably suggest this one...$950 after MIR, but bad battery life:

Or maybe this one, the Dell Inspiron E1705.
