Default What one to get?

Hey everyone! I am on a quest to build my own high performance PC! I am fairly new to this and so need quite a bit of help! Anyway, I would like some advice on what motherboard to get. As I'm not quite sure how this bit works do you need to know any specific info to make a reccommendation?

I can tell you so far that I will be using the system for gaming and music production mainly, as well as the usual wrd processing etc. As far as money goes it might be cool if you suggested both a top level component, and a more middle of the range one too.

Thanks for your suggestions

What requirements... ?

PCI-Express?
C2D Support?
Crossfire / SLi?

Edit// if it is for C2D (Core 2 Duo - Intel's new line) I recommend the one I have - Asus P5W "Digital Home" Deluxe (P5W DH Deluxe). Has built-in WiFi and a remote just like the Apple MacBook one but less sexy because it's by Asus and not Apple ;P
