Why don't you just plug the laptop HDD into your computer with the CD drive if? it's a desktop they make laptop>desktop hard drive adapters

so i found a disk to do a network boot. i copied the win98 folder off of the win 98 cd form a shared cd drive over the network. booted up with the win 98 setup floppy and did a local install. i got 98 installed and then ran setup.exe form the cd drive in my tower and everything worked. i now have xp on my laptop.
