I cant speak for whether it is healthier or not. I am a vegetarian, although I have not always been. I do eat eggs and milk, etc so I am not a vegan.
My basic rule is I wont eat anything that ever had eyes and if you try to catch it to eat it, it would try and escape, in other words it does not want to be eaten.
Give it a try, see how it agrees with you.

There is just something so out of balance with the anti-biotics and stuff they are feeding animals. Also it is easy to eat a hamburger, but there is no way I would ever kill a chicken or a cow or pig to eat it, especially cows which nurture and protect their young ones, despite what people say, they do have feelings.

there are certain enzymes and protiens you can not get from supplements. Vegan or vegaterian is bad in the long run. When you become older and your body starts to break down you need those protiens to help your body function. In the long run you can form health defecincies. Why do you think they make buddhist monks eat meat when they are sick? Normally, they live through a strict vegeterian diet, but when they get sick they are allowed to eat meat to take advantage of those nutrients found in meat.

In retrospect, eating tons of meat is also bad. I did the whole vegetarian thing off and on my whole life and found it most healthy to eat meat in moderation and eat lots of veggies, grains, etc.

Being a vegan is also not using any animal products. No more dairy at all (bye bye cheese, milk shakes, etc), no more leather, no more anything with an animal product in it.

I eat chicken, pork and fish and occasinaly red meat. I also eat whole vegeterian meals and not have any meat at all sometimes. However, I am never going to give up meat, because I may never know when it will be the only thing I can have to eat and I'm hungry.

In addition to what tlarkin said, many scientists believe that meat-eating is necessary for evolution to occur.

That's not healthy either.

One, how in the world does eating meat have to do with evolution?

Two, not everyone believes in evolution.
