Default Bet you have not seen this problem before

and if you have atleast i got your attention First off i must say being the newcomer i am to these forums that from browsing around i can tell this is a very resourcefull place to become better in-tune with computers so to say Even though this is my first post here it would be great if someone could take away some of there time to help me figure out my problem as it has been irking me for weaks and i have spent hours upon hours of time trying to fix it. Google can only take a man so far now i am hoping a few experts or knowledgable people can now help me do what google couldn'nt Well this is probably how most how do i fix it conversations start out... i purchased this PC used on ebay. Great deal i beleive if i could just fix it, it's only a small problem but affects the main reason i bought the PC.. games!
Here is the basic make-up of my computer
Gateway, Inc.
Intel(r)
Celeron(r) CPU 2.80ghz
2.79 ghz, 1.25GB of RAM
Maxtor 6e040l0 hard drive (0's may be letter o's)
Radeon 9550
hitachi dvd-rom gd-8000
tsstcorp cd/dvdw ts-h522u

Ok well first of it took me awhile to get the cd drives to work but now the tsst works great and the hitachi does sometimes... it will recognize and play cd's and dvd's but sometimes game cd's wont even show up in it. While in the tsst it always shows up. However in both drives when i click install on the game it will openup install shield and then i will get an error message(someone told me to just save it to the right drive--but i dont get an option to save it anywhere i just click install and 4 seconds later i get this error)
Error 1327. Invalid Drive: F:\

Now i contacted the guy who i purchased it from and he said he had a second hard-drive he used to install all his games on. When he sold the PC he took it out. He also said he might have deleted some hardware by accident when he was getting it ready to send to me. I am still in contact with him but he has been of very little help so far.

Now the first thing i thought about was let's just reinstall windows which was a pain atfirst becouse i had to order recovery cd's these are the ones i bought maby there the wrong kind for my pc? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0486&rd=1&rd=1
Well after messing around a bit with my pc *can't remember what all i did* *reinstalled a few drivers switched master/slave around on the drives a few times ect.* Anyways i can now when the cd is booted from the tsst rom drive it will show the screen when i should press a button or maby scroll down ect. to select an iption. It says f1 to do this f2 to do that f3 to access these options ect. Only thing is when i press buttons it takes me nowhere or when i press up or down nothing. Almost like keyboard is dead or computer is frozen or something weird like that. Everytime i do it it will show the screen but when i press the button options it takes me no-where.

If anyone knows how to either fix my error when i try to install games or how i can succesfully reinstall or do a recovery to windows (i Have key code for windows installed on it but do not have the origonal reinstall cd's or recovery cd) I do have a recovery cd i purchased as i said above. please let me know. If you beleive you could help me with a little more information as well just ask and i will tell you whatever you need to know in-order to help me.

I would be extremely grateful for anyhelp anyone could give as this problem has been the source of many-a headache for me.

well can u turn ur numlock on and off? sometimes usb keyboards dont power on boot, you have to either change bios or move jumpers on the motherboard.
do you have a ps/2 keyboard laying around?

some oem computers also need specific recovery cd's.. u might need one special ordered from gateway, my friends compaq needed a specific one bc normal windows was missing some stuff

Sounds like the PC thinks the old HDD is still there, if you go into the BIOS you should be able to tell it that its not their anymore.
Oh and make your HDD now be the primary one.
