Question Uncompress files

I compressed all files on my computer and now I can not find them. When I go to "All Programs" it's empty. My dektop has nothing but a couple of standard windows icons. I can not find any of the programs I installed on my computer. I did not delete anything. I simply compressed everything and I had no idea that everything will hide. Please let me know what to do.

Thanks.

Where did you compress the files to? If you can see the compressed files, just right click and press "extract" or something like that.

I have no idea where the compress files went to. All I was trying to do was free up some hard drive space so I checked "compress drive to save disk space" and clicked apply. After a few hours of this process, everything was gone from my dektop and "All Programs" section.

Ok, try this:

Click start > search > all files and folders > search

don't type in a file name or anything, just hit search.

See what files are returned, and try extracting them.

What did you compress? The folder in your C: drive called "Program files" ? Or your whole drive such as your C: drive? Either case, you should notice that whatever you compressed, the letters should have turned blue.

What you can try is to go back into what you compressed and un-did what you just did. So, uncheck "compress drive to sace disk space" and restart your computer to see if everything is back to normal.

Also, if you are trying to save disk space, there are other more better alternative methods than going around just compressing your hard drive.
