Default Overclocking Asus M2N4-SLI

Need some basic overclocking help re. my system,
which I built about a month ago:
System:
Asus M2N4-SLI
AMD dual core 3800+ with Zalman 9500AM2 fan/sink.
Corsair 2GB 800 DDR2
eVGA 7900 GT KO 256PCI Exp x16.
Note, system has only on vid card, not yet set up as SLI.

Have never overclocked anything. Would like to try it.
Used the Asus AI overclocking feature:
the Asus AI options are 10x, 8x, 5x, 3x.
There are 2 question at end of posting.
Please answer them so that I can maybe get a grip on this process.

Here are the results:
At 10x, XPhome would not load, restart loop.
At 8x, xp would load, but when load COD2, machine growls, then locks up.
At 5x, have been on COD2 for about 2hrs, and no problem, so far.

At 5x the core speed is 2102.9 ?
I have nothing to compare this to,
and I totally lack any experience of knowledge re. these matters.

Questions:
1. Is "core speed" the correct category for this ?
2. If yes, is 2102.9 adequate, or should I look for more, or less, or what ?
Thanks

PS. I am attaching links to some CPU-Z screens for:
5x, which works:

8x, which locks up:

and also bios AI setup screens:
