hi, i keep getting these really anoyinng baloons popping up in the bottom right hand side next to the time.
there are 2 icons. 1 = flashing windows earth with a yellow information baloon flashing simultaniously. it says "critcal system errors" when i scroll over it. 2. a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. both tell me i have spyware and stuff on my computer however, i'm pretty sure that those balloons are the spyware,. when i click on them it takes me to a page "virusbusters" and they say i have to buy their product. i downloaded a thing called a "supercodec" which seemed to install all this stuff. i also am getting popups telling me i have spyware installed and i should buy anti-spyware products. (theirs no doubt) and also when i restart my computer it opens up a new i.e page with porn links... here's a copy of the hijack this report.. Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.
Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter". The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart anyway into normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log. The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

It looks like you're running 2 antivirus programs, nod and avg. Not a good idea as they can conflict with each other. Decide which to keep and uninstall the other. Just a couple of things to fix and we're done.
Run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan only", place a check by the following entries. O2 - BHO: Yahoo! Companion BHO - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ycomp.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: &Yahoo! Companion - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ycomp.dll (file missing) Close all open windows and browsers, and hit "Fix Checked".
