Default No Internet Playback

Hi everyone. Im having some kind of problem with playing videos on the internet (youtube). It plays the videos but there is no sound. I went into the sounds and audio device properties in control panel and i notice that there is NO default MIDI music playback device selected. There is a dropdown list of three, including Microsoft GS wavetable SW synth. When I chose one i press apply then OK, but upon going back to that window, it is gone and empty again. It will not stay for some reason. The same goes for the default "voice playback" one in the voice tab. Nothing will stay. It used to work. The only thing i can think of is how i installed a webcam a while back that has a microphone. (Its a logitech quickcam) I was going to try a system restore but ive done SO much since then im not willing to lose (updates and what not). Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Red face

I don't know anything about this, so I will say what I would do in your situation.
1. call my brother
2. if I can't get him, re-install the browser. I use firefox so this is easy. I don't know if you even can uninstall IE. I know there must be a restore setting or something though.

Like I said I'm not very useful, but I hope you can get it fixed! I don't know how I would be able to live w/o YouTube...

I experience the same problem with Firefox and IE, both recently re-installed.

Well, are you having any sounds at all? Such as listening to music or video files that are on your hard disk? Or is this strictly online with youtube only? Also, have you tried other media sites with streaming video?

I am able to listen to music on my hard drive. It is only an internet problem. And yes, I have tried other sites, even flash videos...no sound. Thanks again
