If you have an XP full install disk you could perform a repair install hopefully to avoid deleting the current installation of Windows. You are trying to load the board drivers for the old board as well. But the main a repair install is correct the mbr and partition information as well as XP's hardware logs. You can follow the detailed article seen at http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
If the repair install goes well you will only have to install the drivers ofr the new board and perhaps those for the video card and sound. The rest of the files and folders will remian intact. One fast way to see if this is what is needed would be to boot to the recovery console with the XP cd and type in "Fixmbr" at the command prompt there. The other would be a deletion of the current XP installation where it may require deletion of the current partition. |
