Default Socket AM2

So right now, I have a X2 3800+ socket AM2. I am inquiring whether there will be a better processor out for the AM2. I want to get a core 2 duo E6600 but I want to ditch my whole set up to do so. Any opinions? Thanks

How do these CPU's perform against the E6600? I think I've read a review and they don't perform nearly as well as the E6600 and for twice the price. Is this true?

I was more interested if there were news that there would be any "core 2 duo competitive" processors coming out that are not quad cores.

Thanks UK.

yeah I think the E6600's outpeform the FX62 but you already have a socket AM2 board. You can see benchmarking tests at Tom's Hardware.

If it was my choice I would upgrade my board in the future for a socket LGA775 for the Core2Duo but I'd stick with your cpu for the time being unless you have more money than me

I decided to overclock my 3800+ more, and I've got it running stable at a cool 39 celcius @ 2.5 GHz. Everything is running stable. If this computer keeps impressing me like this, I may just stick with it!

I've had it running a whole day like this and it's never had any problems. Of course, I generally keep it at 2.2 GHz.

seems good, there is a program out there that users on here use to monitor your overclock over time. I forget its name.

It's not bad, but its pretty expensive compared to the E6600.
