You can save everything from the save folder and recopy the saves back into the game directory on the new installation. But you will still have to run the game from the start in order to see the new autosaves created. Once you get so far simply exit to the menu and load the previously saved game. Once you enter the save resave it again to update it.

Some games won't run saves right from that point when they are first installed. You have to upto where you saved the game and then load the game save itself. Other games will load saves right away. But the auto saves that the game itself creates won't be there if needed. Games like Half Life require you to go through certain parts to get things like the suit Freeman wears and the gravity gun.
That's also the way it is with the gun mounted on the air boat. If you simply use a cheat code to get items you still can't finish certain parts of a game at times. You have to play them through for the auto saves to be created first. |
