Default Intel or AMD

What would you do?

E6400 w/ 7600gt

or

X2 4600+ w/ 7950gt

I would be using this computer for heavy gaming.

Sorry, I know this is a weird question.

The E6400 is faster and cheaper than the X2 4600. Why not get that with the 7950?

I told you it was a weird question. Well, what would you do if you had to decide between the two?

The first thing to expect for a response from just about everyone here is the C2 model cpu with the 7600GT or 7950GT model video card depending on budget. Meanwhile I have to admit being an AMD fan. The 4600+ X2 would still work for a gaming build. You just won't see the high oc there. Some have had complaints with the 7900 series cards. Don't rule out going with an X1950XTX.

omega, do you think that the faster processor is not quite worth it or did the better graphics card influence your decesion?

The C2D is slightly faster, and if they had equal graphics cards I would say go with the C2D. However the 7950GT is a far superior card, and in games, you will see much higher performance with the X2 4600+ and 7950GT.
