Default New Quad Core Processing

Any pages linking to this? Benchmarks, model names, code names, prices, release dates, etc...

Hearing about Intels, AMDs, and AMDs 4x4?

Not sure if it means 1 chip with 4 cores or 2 chips with dual core, etc...

Just trying to keep myself updated on things!

The release of the AMD quad core models is scheduled for January 27, 2007 unless released before the end of the year. A quad core cpu will be one cpu with 4 cores. For a look at one model here's a few screens.

There will coming out on Intel's concerns now with the AMD quad cores on their way. One of the latest articles leaps to a second article found at http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/21/i...uad-core-tech/

The only thing about AMD's quad core benchmarks is in an a review seen at http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2027650,00.asp

Meanwhile benchmarks for Intel's quad core Quatro model can be seen at http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/09/...n_the_rampage/

Those pictures are of Socket F if I am not mistaken. According to the AMD roadmap, their quad core chip isn't slotted for release until 2H 2007. Intel's quad cores are slotted for Q4 2006.

The articles I keep running across do seem to conflict with one another. An early Feb. article outlined the technology demos to be shown with the 2007 timetable for AMD. Another article "suggested"? the possibility of an earlier date maybe due to Intel's planned release schedule. Another one points at the quad core models seeing a 500% speed increase over the dual cores. You wouldn't see in ghz there.

The 500% increase over the dual cored models was mentioned in one article when going to look for benchmarks. So far that was the only place where that was seen. As far as pricing AMD plans to start off with lower prices at some point. But any line is always high in price initially.

Not just that, but AM3 processors will go in AM2 sockets and be backwards compatible. Good thing, since I have an AM2 processor.

So no one knows for certain the quality of these chips, performance, and price? haha Excellent! Stupid marketing... haha

I'm just a power hungry jackass so I am just more interested in if any of these new processors will totally out performing my E6600 in every category imagineable. :-)
