i think i chose the right set but they didn't work either.
and my ASUS support cd is blue not yellow.
anyway i forgot to mention this before, but previously when i uninstalled soundmax audio driver thing and reinstalled it, i was instructed to reboot the computer and after rebooting, the computer said i don't have an ADI codec driver installed. Where can i get one?

A codec is a secondary driver that works along with the main driver set to add enhancements to the sound. One example of that is Creative's EAX that adds effects to music and seen in games as well. The board's cd would have the original version of that along with the rest of the needed drivers.
