i don't know what's wrong with my computer or whether i accidently uninstalled a program needed for sound but my computer sound doesn't work. My speakers work fine but not when they are plugged into my computer and it doesn't detect anything. It just says "no audio device" and everything is greyed out. Everytime i plug my speakers in, soundMAX detects a new device but when i click ok, nothing happens. I can't play my music and i just can't live without going on the computer in silence. PLZ HELP!!

You need to reinstall the drivers there. Those can be downloaded from the soundMAX support site at http://forms.analog.com/Form_Pages/s...chSupport.html for the latest there if you don't have the cd for the board.
With the cd in the drive or the updated drivers unpacked into a folder unless it comes with an installer you right click on the MyComputer icon and choose properties. From there click on the hardware tab and then the device manager button. Once that screen opens up scroll down to the "sound and game controllers" section and click on the "+" sign to look for any items with a yellow mark next to them. If nothing is found there look for "other devices". On any item right click on the item and choose the update driver option to either browse the board's cd for the audio drivers folder or go to the updated ones just downloaded. Once you highlight the one seen and click ok Windows will copy and install them from that location. Try this method and post you results. |

You are going to post a little system information to be more helpfull. The make and model of the mother board or system if prebuilt like HP or Dell would be needed here. The lack of "other devices" in the device manager shows that all you need to do there is install the correct drivers for sound. Do you have a cd like a software disk for the system or driver cd that came with the main board?

The support link for audio drivers on that model board are found at http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us When you browse the cd that came along with the board you go into the sub directories to look for the original drivers there. But the latest for sound are the link here.

That can happen easy enough. Just go back after the correct ones. When you get there go into the "drivers" or "all" section not the ones at the top but the second ones listed under WHQL. Look for the "OS" listed. |
